F.A.Q.
These are some of the questions our patients ask
Family Medicine physicians receive three years of training in adult medicine, pediatrics and
obstetrics/gynecology. Family Medicine physicians take care of families. Our goal as a Family Medicine office it to provide care for your family from newborns to grandparents. Dr. Johnson has been blessed to treat multiple generations of families and that is one of the joys of his practice. That is truly what Family Medicine is all about.
A family nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has undergone advanced formal education in a wide range of health care services. Nurse practitioners are skilled in physical examination and the treatment of many common primary care concerns, both acute and chronic. They provide some of the same care as physicians including routine follow-up, medication management and referrals to specialists. They have a close working relationship with their physician in the management of their patients. At Johnson Family Medicine, patient care is very much a team approach.
To get a refill on your medications, please have your pharmacy contact us either electronically or by fax at 931-484-2225. You may also call and leave your request via voice mail or telephone message with the front desk. We will process those requests within 24-48 hours of receiving the request. Please make sure you request your medications prior to running out of them.
Please contact our office prior to making changes in your Medicare plans. There are some
replacement plans that our office is not able to accept or we are not able to handle referrals for our patients as needed. We will gladly advise you as to which plans we do accept.
Our office asks that patients wait in your cars once you arrive for your appointments. Call the
office at 931-484-2220 and notify us of your arrival. The nurse will notify you when your exam room becomes available or when the lab is able to provide services for you. If you have fever, headache, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath, we ask that you notify our front desk at the time you schedule your appointment or when you arrive at the office. We also ask that you notify scheduling if you know you have had a recent exposure to someone that is positive for COVID. This allows the staff to be best prepared to prevent potential exposure both for themselves and for our patients. We are all doing our part to continue to serve you safely during this time. Additionally, many of you may be aware that we have appointments available via telehealth if your needs can be appropriately met this way. Most insurance companies pay for these visits just like a visit in the office and it allows the patient to speak to the doctor face-to-face via video messaging without ever leaving home. Please let our office know if this would be beneficial for you at any time.
